NEWS & CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT

The SPICE User Group is pleased to announce the ninth International SPICE Conference, to be held in Turku, Finland from 2nd to 4th June 2009. This Conference follows on from the success of previous SPICE conferences and workshops held on a regular basis since 1994. The conference is hosted on behalf of The SPICE User Group by Åbo Akademi University and the Finnish Software Measurement Association FISMA.

Following the publication of ISO/IEC 15504 as a full International Standard, the focus of activity in standards development has grown to cover the development of new Process Assessment Models, and approaches to the assessment of Organizational Maturity. Along with this is a growing need to promote interoperability and interchange between different approaches to assessment. A specific focus in the 2009 Conference will be the future evolution of ISO 15504, with an emphasis on the establishment of institutional arrangements for registration of the results of assessment, and on key issues identified in the current framework established by the Standard.
